Joe is a keen climber, skier, and alpinist, and is a member of the British Association of Mountain Guides. He has lived in Chamonix, France for most of the last 10 years, and now splits his time between the Alps and North Wales.

His love of climbing has taken him around the world, with some recent highlights being an onsight of La Guerre Sainte/Jihad in Wadi Rum, Jeef in Bavella, Corsica, a sunrise to sunset siege on Astroman, Yosemite, and Eraserhead on Main Cliff, Gogarth.

Alpine climbing has equally featured heavily, with memorable (for good and bad..!) climbs being the North Face of the Dru twice in Winter in the space of ten days, the Walker Spur on the Grandes Jorasses when he was 23 and less good at staying warm, and the South Pillar of the Barre des Ecrins, somehow avoiding choss the whole way.

Joe also enjoys skiing, and has made descents up to 5.3, including a great day of film work in the Miage Basin which not only involved skiing 3 steep descents in the day, but filming 2 strong professional skiers along the way. Days like this have helped train his recovery skills more than anything!

Outside of his personal time, Joe works as a mountain guide and as a photographer/videographer. Examples can be found using the links above, and prints can be ordered on request.

When he’s not in the mountains, Joe’s real love is for Irish trad music and the tin whistle, despite growing up on the South coast of the UK!
